The body structure of buses is always in contact with outside environment. Humidity, salt and different chemicals cause the body structure to be predisposed to corrosion. Load bearing structures that are rusted through make the vehicle unsafe for traffic.

This particular case is a Setra bus, which has a steel load bearing structure and is relatively prone to corrosion. The load bearing structures of this bus were extremely damaged around the area of dead and drive axle. All damaged parts were replaced and covered with corrosion inhibitors. In addition to that, smaller rust damages were removed in the range of the whole body and the bus was repainted to give it a fresh look.
